The temp on my Furuno 620 appears on the screen as a line with a bar up the left hand side is there a way to change it so it is like the one below.
I have faffed about with it a lot but am probably missing something blindingly obvious :brickwall:
Also what speed do you lose bottom, I lose it just over 10knts.

I can't see what you meant by the temperature thing. Maybe you can enlarge the picture ?? Are you talking about the temperature graph thing ?
I rarely lost bottom with my 620, my boat goes faster than 28 knots. I was quite impressed by it actually. I do lose it when there's a lot of wash forming in the transom. I think this will depend on where the transducer is placed in the transom and how your hull is designed. Have your tried playing around with the trims ? When the bow is pointing up the transducer should see more water thus should not lose the bottom.

robbie you can change it to a digital number display in the config somewhere
i just cant remember (i know that doesnt help lol)
i used to lose bottom around 28 knots
sounds like you might need to move your tranny a bit

Mate, I would love to know how to change the temp, but that picture shows the depth and volts, can't see the temp? Unless I'm missing something obvious too? rofl
Btw, definitely transducer position... You'll need to play with it, I only dropped two screws in it until I was ready to fix it and now I don't lose bottom, even at 30 knots, dunno how accurate it is at that speed? :o

Maybe I am seeing things.. rofl
I read some where that you can have a digital read out i.e 19.5 as opposed to just having the graph up the left hand side of the screen.
Do you guys still pick up bait at those speeds?

I'd like to think you can!
Any idea how much distance the temp graph gives from one side to the other?
Also, it'd be hard to pick unless your chart speed is on max.

You can! When I get back in my boat I'll remeber how to do it. Till then, sit tough!:wave1:

you will normally pick up bait
once you hit a deeper a depth at speed the sounder will freak out but i normally set it to read in the top 50m of the water column and it will come good again..
and u can still find that bait

I use both the graph and the digi readout on my 585. I reckon the graph is awesome, the temp breaks stand out big time on the sounder screen with the graph and you know you just went past it rather than thinking when was the last time you checked the temp.

i know this temp graph you speak of, it can be turned off in the menu screen.
Press the menu/esc key
scroll down to display
fourth option down will be temp graph.
this will toggle the graph as a temp scale on the left with a blue line running the middle of the sounder from one side to the other showing the temp variations in graph format as you travel in real time.
To have the temp come up in the top left hand corner as a numerical value im pretty sure its in the data menu screen.
press the menu/esc key
scroll down to data
play with the data box 1 option and which is the 3rd item down. im pretty sure this is the one you want to display temp.
If this doesnt work ill try and pick a break in the weather to bring it up on my sounder and ill let you know.
Cheers,
Adrian.

What chart plotter?
Are they both the same version NMEA0183 V1.5, V2.0, V3.0, ?
Is the in/out port enabled on both?
Or ring Joe, he has his head around it I believe :D

Anth, I still haven't done mine.:dontknow:
For those interested in Furuno .pdf files, I have attached 2 that I have. I think I have another...but can't find it right now. I'll keep looking.
The one titled Furuno Guide, is one that I received from other members and I believe was compiled by someone her in Oz. The Furuno Tutorial was lifted of an old newsletter from the Furuno USA site. Both of them have dated information, in that they were were produced prior to the release of the current 620, but the tips and hints are still relevant to a degree. I am hoping to get more updated guides soon.

I timed it today from turning on the line took 4 minutes to reach the other side, scroll speed didn't affect the time it took.
So I guess you are looking at the last four minutes traveled :D

I wanna get this NMEA thing going so so badly...
Issue is that both manufacturers seem to use different coloured wires for the connection. Admittedly, I haven't played around with it much with fears of blowing it up :BangHead:
