Young master Scott has just come back from a Nomad adventure and is already planning his next trip.
He says if we can get 12 starters we can book the boat and spend the week getting pissed and maybe do some fishing.
This will cost a heap of cash so if you are interested in going register that interest and once our NZ epic adventure is finished I will start on maybe a Nomad trip for 2010 or another Epic adventure.
Carl can get a mother ship for a week for 10 people and there are thighs like 130lb YFT to play with.
If you have some ideas put them here and I don't mind following then up.
Bring on NZ first and wait for the report

Jeez Paul if the thighs are 130lb how much would the whole fish weigh :eek::eek:roflrofl
Would love to go on one of those trips but I'm a coward.....I won't get in a plane :sad2::sad2::o:o
I think it's great that SA members can get together and form tour groups.
I hereby lodge my expression of Interest!
While a hardcore week long boys fishing/pissup/belching/farting/grossing each other out live-aboard trip would be awesome, after this years New Zealand Epic trip I have major guilt issues not taking my family so next trip I am looking at something where I could take the tribe for a holiday and strike a fishing/family balance.
This is just my preference - maybe several trips will evolve.
Bring on NZ!

I used to feel guilt too Iain....if you help me get over the ironing board incident maybe I can help you if not get rid of your guilt, at least ignore it :D
Seriously though this Nomad trip is being followed up by a half fishing half family trip to New Caledonia with my family and a mate and his wife in April, so yeah I know where you are coming from mate.
The South Pacific Islands offer some wonderful fishing and family destinations...unfortunately in my investigations I have found that often the good fishing tours are not run out of the family areas, you usually have to travel to separate islands or regions...even so, it is not too hard to leave the family for a few days in a resort then come back and spend some time with them, that is what we are doing in New Cal
The other issue is that all of the operations in the South Pacific that I have looked into (in Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tonga) cater for smaller groups of 3-4 as they usually only operate one boat. That is fine of course, just means less SA members can go at once and share the experience
It may be possible to find 2 charter groups that can work together or something, David Noble at Ocean Blue may be able to help out there...but it does seem that in a lot of these places there is only 1 operator that we would consider to be up to the standard we expect from professional fishing guides
Food for thought
Am still jealous of the Epic trip, you guys will have a blast
As for you Mado, I used to be hell scared of flying (still am just better at controlling it) so I was very proud of myself for going on that little float plane...the ride was surprisingly smooth, though I didnt know that up front, particularly with the bad weather.....amazing what one will do for good fishing though

Hi guys,
Thought I'd chime in here and say hi! after the reference above and Kerry's great report from Fiji.
Scott you are right, smaller numbers are often better and family destinations often mean diluted fishing quality and quantity.
There are options, including Kadavu and Ono boats running consecutively, or a Vanuatu game trip. Or back home, Cape York etc..
There are also plans for an affordable mothership with dories later this year to work the remote pacific island areas. That would be great but I'm not holding my breath (island time!)
Great forum guys, very positive to see. I hope to be part of this community more and more.
Cheers David Noble
