Well here is my first report for the site:)
Decided to hit the Hawkesbury today for some bream flicking. We had to at times deal with heavy downpours, howling winds and a bit of heat, but none of these would stop us for having our first flick of 2006.
We launched at about 7am ish and fished through till about 5:30pm, so it was a big day out.
We fished our normal local haunts for some undersized bream. Started off well and I dropped a monster fish that we did not even see....the old story of the one that got away:mad: So then decided to hit the flats for some action. Well there were heaps of smallish bream around with the occasional brute amongst them but there wasn't the kind of action that we hoped for.
So with low tide upon us we changed our tactics and fished some big holes with big plastics in the hope of jigging up a Jew on sp. it didn't happen but it was a welcome change.
So with the tide coming back in we hit our favourite spot and we were not disappointed. We got wasted by some absolute monsters and I personally lost 2 top fish and 1 in particular was a monster that would have easily pushed 40cms. Too strong for the 6lb fluro leader against the rocks and peeled line off under a heavy drag. The only saving grace was that I saw both of these fish and one of them was a nice bronze colour that indicates to me that he was an old timer that had been around for some time, thus the large size.
All in all we boated 15 or so flathead of various sizes as a bycatch and at least 10 bream, 2 of which were passable size.
Cheers
Lee
P.s. also included are some lizard pics of the new years eve fishing with another mate.
