View Full Version : SAMBO SOCIAL Resurrected

bluecod

OK! Now that all the excitement has died down after Carpfest, it is time to resurrect this sucker again.

Looking at Weekend of 16 and/or 17 September

This time a little different as we have some major options

1. Fish Sydney Harbour on one of the two days listed

2. Fish Pittwater/Broken Bay on either one or both days listed with an overnight camp at the Basin [weather Gods permitting] supply your own or team up with a [very] close friend.

Your call folks - what I'm looking for is numbers, venue and day or weekend and we'll try and arrange something for the masses.

MarkD - Harbour

Jaws - Harbour Sunday
Tim - Broken B
Grantm - Broken B Sunday
Dont Shoot da Chinaman - Fencesitter

No one likes the idea of a camp overnight - so that could be canned!

But, given enough interest, there's a possibility we could have Saturday in one location and Sunday at the other spot.

Lads the Salmon day is just over a week away and I will say just one thing. Thank Christ it's NOT this weekend!!!!

Well done George in you long range weather forecasting!

I think it says something about the sad times in which we live but we have to take out Public Liability Insurance to cover these events. I know it's crazy that you need to insure 10 blokes standing on a beach having a BBQ but that's how things are unfortunately.

We don't want to charge people for coming so we have an alternative. We'll bung on a BBQ lunch for $10 per head. Bruce is getting there early and securing a spot so when we meet at The Basin at 12 noon there will be a steak sanga and salad ready for you.

Can you please confirm your attendance and how many people you will be bringing so we can provision for the grub.

Everyone is welcome.

It seems that my normal partners in crime have either taken their boats, or have arranged a ride with other members. I have a spot on my boat for any willing punter!

It would be preferable that you be able to get to my place in the morning, and come back with me to clean the boat. I may need to hang around a little longer than normal if there is any work to be done in an official capacity at the social. And finally, you must be able to duck, or have good head gear, as I will be waving the wand!rofl

Rowland Reserve at Bayview has twin 3 lane ramps, but the parking fees are pretty hefty - $6 for the first four hours up to $12 for a 24 hour period.

Good ramps with beach to the sides and jetty/pontoon as well.

If you have a four wheel drive there is a sand ramp at the end of Woorak Avenue, Palm Beach/Careel Bay

Bashir I assume you mean the Woorak Road ramp :idiot: This ramp is useable at high tide by a conventional sedan, but is another story when the tide goes out - at least the sand is hard packed at the moment. Unless you've got a good 4-wheel drive I would not recommend it.

The Rowland reserve ramps are regarded as being arguably the best in Sydney

Dear Boppa,

Make sure your bring extra food for me. I'll be on the tooth after a few hours of fishing and i am a fat man in need of constant nourishment.

Here is my order :

2 x steak sanga's
Bit of onion not too much though - dont burn it either i hate that
Cook steaks medium rare - just a little blood. If its overcooked im likely to send it back.
Buttered bread, can you please use that cholesterol lowering stuff, i need some help with that. Im a heart attach waiting to happen
Please make sure that when we pull up they are ready to go, i dont want to have to wait.
If you can organise some kind of outdoor lounge that would be a nice too, id like to put me feet up for a while
I would also like a pina colada with one of those tiny umbrella's in it

Oh last but not least i would like a half naked porn star to serve the food (preferebly female). Please dont wear a g string this time Boppa, people have to eat.

Frank - bring the porn.

Yours sincerely

Too late, Joe knows!

I revised my tackle list as I have stated earlier. I have more 'appropriate' tackle to deal with those pesky Hoodlums that I AM going to hook!rofl DR is packed. All I have to do is score one Sambo...Just one.... and that will be my bait.:ohyeah: :ohyeah:

Actually, I will be hitting the water pretty early. Kids are pestering me for Calamari, so I will be trying to get a few round the back of the Joey. Rip their heads of for bait...save the tubes for the kiddies. Now THATS multi-tasking!:p

Where is everyone planning on launching from? i wanted to try out the new pontoon under the F3, so I may jump from there. If not there, it will be Parsley Bay. I did consider Bayview, but it's quicker for me to get to the other two spots.

Does Pauli know that my boat is plate, and he will have to hit it at full steam to have any chance of damage? Does he know that I would rather lose my house than sell my boat? Ahhh Adrian - youv'e touched on the magical word that determines where I take it. "SIT" is something that is foreign to the Cap'n - he must weigh all of 15 stone comprising 14.5 stone of nervous energy and bounds from one side of the boat to the other without telling anyone. rofl rofl rofl

That's OK in a 6 metre glass boat that weighs close to 1.5 tonne, but is scary shit in a 4.3 tinnie that weighs marginally more than the passengers, particularly when you're casting fly from the bows. rofl rofl rofl :p

we have to take out Public Liability Insurance to cover these events.

Go tomorrow night. Less than 1/2 swell and seven or so knots all night, it'd be one of those oh so rare nights when you could safely bottom bash the outside reefs for verrry big fishies.

Well although it was a great day out the fishing was lousy. I have no idea outside of a river.

Once again great to catch up with everyone, im just praying joes snags dont give me bowell problems:o

One good thing was that after Pauli and I finished pretending to fish outside we headed into 'my house' - flattie country.

Landed this 68cm specimen to round the day out.

Guys,

Would really like to come along one fine day- but I dont have a boat...:sad2:

However, if can coordinate with my Bro in law we might be able to meet you out there, but if not anyone with a spare seat would be apprecaited.

Sorry not free every weekend vut I could let you know in advance when am free

Also, can bring light refershments (ie. Beer, chips'n'dip, whatever is not being brought by others).

Please PM me if you have a spot on your boat- I would very much apprecaite the opportunity as land-locked as I am I do crave boat outings
