Hi Lads,
Just got back from 2 weeks in Port Macquarie with the family. The weather was temperamental with patches of sun followed by steam then storms and gentle rain most nights. Throw in a generous helping of SE winds 15-25knots and plenty of red weed on the beaches and in the Hastings and various estuaries and all I can say was the fishing was VERY limited. I soaked some fresh local prawns on the southern end of Flynns Beach and only managed a 25cm flatty and a 20cm luderick. I tried a number of spots at Lake Cathie and discovered it is the perfect time of year for juvenile flattys. About the only spot I had any luck was under the main bridge at Lake Cathie where I managed a couple of bream (28cm) and a 38cm flatty for the bag. I threw back plenty of undersize bream aswell as an Estuary Cod of about 40cm. No pics sorry lads as the digital camera is currently out of action.
All in all a reasonable time was had but I suppose there is nothing like fishing in waters that you know.
