Lads,
Let me start by saying the Hairtail night is definitely on! We have had a great response and will have plenty of boaters there.
That being said, numbers are a bit low for the houseboat & we need to consider what we do. So far I think we have 7 ‘yesses’ & one ‘maybe’.
We could:
1) Stick with the 10 berth and find the extra numbers
2) Get a smaller houseboat – a 33’ sleeps 6
3) Ditch the houseboat, do just the Saturday night and find alternative arrangements for the non boaters.
I’m sure we can find spots for the non boaters on the boats that are attending. Some also may want to camp on Gunyah Beach. If history is anything to go by we’ll have the worlds biggest raft of boats and campers could fish till late and when they are too cold/sleepy/drunk to fish anymore, get someone relatively sober to drop them ashore. In fact lying by a campfire sounds better that fishing! Anyway it’s all very doable.
The purpose of this message is to kick the possibilities around and get your thoughts. In previous years we’ve roughed it on small boats and survived ok and it saves you $180. That being said, the houseboat was great - especially if it’s really friggen cold or it rains!
I’m happy however it turns out so speak up and we’ll work it out.
Cheers,
Iain
