Lads,

Let me start by saying the Hairtail night is definitely on! We have had a great response and will have plenty of boaters there.

That being said, numbers are a bit low for the houseboat & we need to consider what we do. So far I think we have 7 ‘yesses’ & one ‘maybe’.

We could:
1) Stick with the 10 berth and find the extra numbers
2) Get a smaller houseboat – a 33’ sleeps 6
3) Ditch the houseboat, do just the Saturday night and find alternative arrangements for the non boaters.

I’m sure we can find spots for the non boaters on the boats that are attending. Some also may want to camp on Gunyah Beach. If history is anything to go by we’ll have the worlds biggest raft of boats and campers could fish till late and when they are too cold/sleepy/drunk to fish anymore, get someone relatively sober to drop them ashore. In fact lying by a campfire sounds better that fishing! Anyway it’s all very doable.

The purpose of this message is to kick the possibilities around and get your thoughts. In previous years we’ve roughed it on small boats and survived ok and it saves you $180. That being said, the houseboat was great - especially if it’s really friggen cold or it rains!

I’m happy however it turns out so speak up and we’ll work it out.

Cheers,
Iain

Iain,
I think the houseboat is an awesome idea ...

Maybe with all those boaters (including Myself) We could charge a small docking fee for all our boats alongside to maybe cover one or two beds... This would allow us to use those beds for dumping all the boaties bedding stuff on and extra's(Blow up dolls)...

Also with the house boat it allows one central meeting place... One central eating place and one central place to get drunk fall over get picked up and thrown into your bed ... This also allows people to start breakfast and kick the other guys in the ass to get up and go fishing...

This would allow non-boaters to jump on a ride for the morning or so ...

I would be happy to pay a docking fee ... At least this would allow us to use the shitter (PLEASE)...

Gav,
Only to contribute to the mothership if it can't be filled... Finding that very hard to believe ... Without it I can see it turning into a shit fight of a weekend ...

Thanks for the feedback lads. Keep it coming please.

Steggs as an explanation, Gav slept 1.5 of the 2 days on the houseboat last year so there's an ongoing joke about him getting the best bed.

Without it I can see it turning into a shit fight of a weekend ...

Sean no doubt it's good to have the mothership there but we've had awesome Hairtail nights before without one.

Whatever happens it will be a cracking weekend.

Can't go wrong with the company ... Fingers crossed I will be there ... 99.9 %

As long as I don't get deployed ... But the LADS at work know ... I am not available that weekend from Thursday night on...

Looking Forward to it ... Got a mate coming to ... And he is over the moon ...

I spoke with Gav agea ago about this and it seems he sure does love his RACK time ... Must take him a couple of days to get rid of the bed sores...
