Transducer Power

Hey Guys
Went to Sydney Boatshow yesterday looking at electronics for the new boat
Some of the Sounders had 500 watt transducers and some had 1kw transducers
Most of our fishing will be less than 5 kms offshore
Will the power make a huge differance
The sounder was a Raymarine A65 and very easy to use
Had a great colour resolution and a good price
Any ideas
Some of the boats there are so BIG. 4 million bucks. Real scary

hi mate,

a 500-600w tranny will lose the bottom at around about 130 fathoms.

no need for a 1kw in so close the 500w will do the job for you easily and pick up all those big fishies.

yep :)

just make sure that the transducer gets installed in the best possible place or you will lose some power/pickup from it.
