so how was the day :) guys today
... you b....ed... fishing and i had to work
Here it is Ankles!:D
What's the defenition of a 'Social'?
EASY...It's when a whole bunch of friends get together, eat, drink and are merry!
Was today's social a success?
Damn right it was!:D With good friends, food and grog aplenty, and the priceless setting of Quarantine Station as the back-drop, what else would you want?
Iain and I hit the beach just after Bruce and James. We prepared our designated area and waited for the masses to arrive. And they didn't dissappoint! With a terrific turn out from all corners of Sydney, and beyond, we gathered for our first ever official get together.
With a veritable armada of fishing craft beached along the sand, the stories ran thick and fast, as they are known to do with fishermen. After the obligatory exchange of notes on the mornings fishing, we were regalled with great stories of the front lines in Iraq by Tyson as the snags, chops, steaks and other forms of dead animals sizzled on the BBQ.:p And no-one was concerned that by that time the tide had turned and left the boats high and dry!
Considering SOME members turned up without a dead animal to cook, we seemed to do OK with everyone walking away completely satisfied:)
With the arrival of our friendly NPWS rangers, we were afforded a quick tour of the historic QS and it's workings. Thanks Guys!:) What an eye-opener that place is! Some members were even game enough to walk up to the morgue, even after being told some of the stories of ghosts and its somewhat grizzly past.
One last suprise that we had up our sleeve was a trophy. We felt that it was fitting, as a token of our appreciation, that it be awarded to a member that is always there to help others. No question is to trivial for him to answer. He sees all members as his equal, and openly shares his vast knowledge on all manner of topics. He is there lending a hand in any capacity that he can. Wether it is to go have a look at a nearby member's boat, or just to offer advice on a piece of tackle or technique. George always finds the time to help or offer advice!:D
George, your a champion, and an assett to all the members on this site!
Let me take this time to thank all the members that turned up, and even those that couldn't. It's you guys that make this site what it is. And it is for you guys we will continue to promote and organise these outings. A special mention goes out to Trevor. He came as a guest of Ben....all the way from sunny England!:D
And a special thank you for the NPWS for their affording us the opportunity to see one of the lesser know parts of this great city we call Sydney!
