hi all,seeing that my nephue went home today i got to get of the bank and back in the canoe for a bit more of a serious fish.i riged up a shad in mullet colours and left just before the high.straight away seen a splash on the other side with some prawns skipping across the water.first cast got a small hit and the second got smashed by a good size fish,it took some line and pulled my light canoe closer to the bank,i was trying to get some line back but berried itself in the snags and i eventually snaped it off.bugger 1 of the 2 shads i had left.riged up the last shad but didnt take long to loose it to a snag,searched the bumbag and all i had was some pumkin sead fat grubs so through 1 on.got up to the corner right on high,ankered and started casting at the reads and along the bank in the deeper water.got a couple of hits here and there and then i was on again,the fight lasted about a second and the fish wraped itself around a snag i didnt even know was there.it must have washed in with the last lot of heavy rain we had.reriged again and wasnt long and i was on to a small bream around 20cm that launched out of the water,got it up to the canoe and realised i would be jumping around too if i had a hook in my eye,anyway a quick release and i headed off home,a couple of casts on the way and landed a nice little EP around 25cm.ill have to take the camera next time but i did get a pic of the crab that was in the pot when i got back (and one i caught earlier) and a python that was at the back door yesterday....gav.
