Hi Guys can anyone tell me what GPS/plotter may interface with the Furuno sounders? Can it be done at all? Also wher can can I learn about interfacing and the nbenifits of this. Gees I sound dumb but to be honest I just don't know that much about this stuff.

Thanks again

Henry

Henry,
as long as they have the correct nmea connection you can connect pretty much anything
on my 620 i had my navman fuel transponder and chartplotter showing some info up there. worked a treat

Thanks Djmac

I assume the NMEA connection you talk about is just a cable from one to the other? Would this cable need to be purchased as a seperate item to the plotter and sounder or do they come with them????

Cheers

henry they come standard with the sounder/plotter etc
basically there are a strand of wires that come out and each wire does a certain thing. i.e. temp, speed etc
and u just connect them with the other nmea connector on the other device and voila away u go.

Here is a neat trick that can be done with the 620.:Tumb up:

Once you have connected the plotter using the NMEA cabling, you can then move the cross hairs on the sounder so that you centre it on any point of interest....such as a bait school. Then mark it on the sounder...yes...the sounder, and this then marks its exact spot on the plotter. You can then circle around and work the bait ball from a different angle if needed.:Tumb up:

Sounds like a good bit of gear - what sort of $$ are you looking at for both

Thanks Joe...I have heard that you can do that and it was good to hear it again! Thats the bit that excites me about marking stuuf that you have just passed. Gees I needed it on the weekend when I went over a reef/wreck that a pro was fishing the other day and saw it straight away. But could I find it again when i circled back! No spent nearly 40mins looking and gave up.

And in reply to George - I have pushed the boys at Bias and can get the Furuno 620 plus the Lowrance 5200C plus nav card for all Aust for $2284.00 the lot. Started with the boys from Nauteck in Victoria who had really good prices but they can not do the Lowrance GPS so had to twist the arm at Bias quoting the boys from Nautek. I may still buy seperately as the Nautek people have been very helpfull and deserve the sale.
