Default Pflueger Supreme XT Reels any good?

Hello all,

Just wondering if any of you fisho's had any experience with these reels?
Pflueger Supreme XT Reels

They sell for around $199 so would like user advice before buying.

Thanks,

I've got the baby of the range loaded with 3lb braid that I use for bream spinning. I love it. Can't really comment on the drag as i'm only using very light braid but, for the money I doubt you would find a better reel.
I wouldn't hesitate in buying another.
My 3 cents.

Unfortunatley, my expierence with them isn't so good.
I bought a different model pflueger 1st can't remember exactly what it was, I had problems with it, sorry it was a while ago I can't remember what was wrong with that one either. Anyway, luckily I had bought it from my local tackle shop and I know the guys there so I had no problem exchanging it. I put a few extra $ and got the Supreme. Well bugger me I had dramas with that too. It had like a notch in it when winding. Hard to explain and as I said this was a while ago so my memory isn't the best. But basicly, after the guy tried to fix it and gave it back to me worse than before, I exchanged that too. I actually swapped it for a totaly different reel but same $ value, a Shimano charter special and replaced the supreme with a Shimano Sedona for about 1/2 the price of the supreme and never had a problem. Nice reel.
Not saying "pfluger are crap" or what ever, but those expierences were enough to turn me off.
If you do buy 1, I've still got a spare spool from mine you can have, it's an 8030MG

Ive got the fluegar purist xts game reel loaded with 30lb 100% dyneema braid on a Mark berg 6 to 10kg outfit,i hve caught small kingfish snapper and hairtail. As long as you maintain them after each trip you will never have a problem.

I havent yet tried the Supreme XT but I have four Pflueger Purist XTR reels. Two in the PURXTR50 size and two in the PURXTR30 size.

Had them for a few years now and cant fault them. Drags are sealed and very smooth and the action is quite ergonomic.

I had some of their cheaper ones before these and even those worked well.

I guess it depends on what you try to do with them. The XTR 30's have no problems with anything up to a good size Silver Trevally but I think a decent Salmon would be asking too much of them. The XTR 50's seem to handle North QLD Queenies, Emperor and Cobia quite well but I wouldnt even consider putting them up against a NZ kingfish.

Here's a writeup that fishing world did on the supreme.

Probably cash for comment though.

Hey Mate,

For what it is worth, I love em!

Great reel, at decent price. Try to shop around for a really good price.

I have around 8 Pfleugers and soft spot for each one.

Only 2 have been trouble:

1, the crank handle on a 25 series, started to flake the plating - returned and replaced no issue.

2, completely RS'd it is pulled apart in box, the reason for this is I dropped it over board in the shallow silt/sludge/filth that is just in frontof Tom Uglys boat ramp.. While looking for it I managed to stomp it into the sludge .. result I stripped it down & lost parts ..

The reel was great, I was a moron.
